Health Benefits of eating alkaline
Eat In Harmony with the body
Eating alkaline has increased in popularity over the years, and the reason why is because of all of the benefits of eating a mostly plant-based diet. Eating alkaline can be described as being in harmony with the food you eat. When you’re eating alkaline foods, your body responds by providing more energy, your skin glows, your body looks and feels better, and in some cases, disease is cured.

What is potential for hydrogen?
pH is king in the world of alkalinity. pH stands for the potential for hydrogen, and it is the way to measure our foods alkalinity. For those who don’t know, alkaline is defined as: of, relating to, containing, or having the properties of an alkali or alkali metal: basic; especially, of a solution: having a pH of more than 7, by Websters Dictionary. For the sake of keeping this information simple and understandable, we will define it as being in harmony and in balance with your body. It has been said that:
A disease cannot take root in a body when the pH is balanced.
When the body is in harmony it maintains a pH balance between 7.35 and 7.45, meaning if we were to measure the fluids in our body, we would be balanced. Those who are skeptics would argue that eating alkaline foods have no effect on our pH, but no one can deny that eating foods that are alkaline are a healthy option. So even the skeptics will be healthier from eating foods that are in harmony with their body.
We can measure our pH through our bodily fluids (blood, urine) and tissues. It is measured on a scale from 0 to 14, and 7 is the neutral point, anything below 7 is acidic, and anything above 7 is alkaline. Alkaline foods are measured on this same scale, and this is also what determines what foods are acidic, and what foods are alkaline. Each individual food has it’s on level acid and alkalinity. The higher the number on the pH scale, the higher the level of alkalinity.
Alkaline Diet is also known as the alkaline ash diet
When our bodies take in food, it has acid or alkaline properties. After it is digested, those foods leave behind an ash. To make it easily understandable, think of it like the ash and soot that is left behind from wood in a fireplace. In the case of food, it leaving behind an ash that is either acidic or alkaline. Acidic ash contains: phosphorus, chloride, iron or sulfur minerals, and alkaline ash contained: potassium, magnesium, calcium, or sodium. It is our dietary choices that determine rather the body will receive minerals that are acidic or alkaline.
pH of blood and urine
The most common way to measure pH is to test urine with pH strips, but to be clear urine is not a very good indicator of your pH balance. The pH balance in urine fluctuates with the food we eat, but the pH balance in our blood is regulated by systems that keep our pH balanced. If our blood responded in the same way as our urine we would be in a world of trouble. A few hours after eating pizza our blood would be acidic, and we would be on the brink of death, so lucky for us our blood pH is regulated and remains constant.
What foods can you eat
Foods that are emphasized in the alkaline diet, come from the earth. These foods include fruits, vegetables, lagunes, and nuts. Here you will find a list of foods to eat that are alkaline
It’s possible to eat all alkaline foods, but super challenging, so instead of driving ourselves crazy trying to eat all alkaline foods, offer yourself the opportunity to eat a ratio of 20 to 30% of foods that aren’t alkaline.
The Health benefits of going Alkaline
We compromise our health when we put our body in a constant acidic state. We watch our health slowly slip away when we are constantly asking our body internal organs to deal with acidic foods. The results end up being, weight gain, low energy, and in the long run possible disease. Vice versa is also true, when we eat alkaline foods we reap the benefits:
- Increase in energy
- Body functions optimally
- Slows down the aging process
- Regulates your digestive system
- Helps your brain function
- Improves your skin
- Enhance overall health
- Feel good about your food choice
The best part about eating alkaline is it’s actually healthy for you. Most diets that gain popularity, are usually not very healthy ways to eat. Eating alkaline is a chance to connect with real foods from the earth, instead of processed foods made in a factory. In the short term our food gives us energy, but in the long run, what we eat contributes to the quality of our life.
